Docket 29089 | December 3, 1997
Continental petitions for an exemption from the requirement of Section 121.41 7(c)(2)(i)(A) to provide initial and recurrent training once each 24 month calendar period with respect to the physical operation of the emergency overwing exit for Boeing 737 airplanes equipped and certificated by the FAA with automatic overwing exit (AOWE) units, and in lieu thereof to permit Continental to provide training to crewmembers on the automatic, overwing emergency exit by the application of Differences Training. This exemption would only be available to crewmembers who have previously been trained and qualified on the manual Boeing 737 overwing exit. The Differences Training would be provided by use of an FAA approved video demonstration on the operation of the AOWE and the video would be supplemented by a training bulletin and revision of crewmember manuals.
