OST-2008-0246 - Statements of Authorization - Blanket Codesharing with Star Alliance

August 13, 2008

Application for Statements of Authorization - Bookmarked

SkyWest Airlines, Inc. d/b/a United Express hereby applies for blanket statements of authorization pursuant to Part 212 of the Department’s regulations to facilitate code-share services on United Express flights for certain foreign carriers, all of which are members of the Star Alliance and code-share partners of United Air Lines, Inc. Those foreign carriers are All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. and Austrian Airlines. SkyWest requests authorization to display the two-letter designator codes of these Foreign Carrier Partners on flights operated by SkyWest as United Express to and from the cities in the market list attached hereto as Attachment A.

SkyWest recently entered into code-share arrangements with these Foreign Carrier Partners which provides for its operation of certain United Express flights displaying the “NH” and “OS” designator codes of ANA and Austrian, respectively.

SkyWest requests that the Department issue statements of authorization applied for herein for an indefinite period, consistent with Department practice.

Re: Clarification of Application

This letter is to clarify that the above-referenced application, filed on August 13, 2008, seeks a blanket statement of authorization that would permit SkyWest to code share with All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. and Austrian Airlines (1) between points in the United States and (2) between U.S. points and points in third countries. Attachment A of that application was submitted as a list of initial markets where code sharing services would be operated.
