LA/Palmdale plays a key role in the regionalization efforts and United has been a strong supporter by introducing service in the market last summer. The service has been challenged by a number of factors including lack of GSA fares and the unprecedented record high increase in fuel costs that are impacting the airline industry. A grant from the Small Community Air Service Development Program would provide the crucial support necessary to help develop our service in the long run.

Currently it is necessary to ride the bus or drive to congested Bay Area airports to get a flight. The trip once took up to two hours from Santa Rosa, but now sometimes takes three hours or more because of highway congestion. And it takes longer for those living in outlying rural and small communities, where it is virtually impossible to schedule a flight before 3 p.m. because of the need to ride more than one bus to get to the airport.
As the North Bay Area’s largest technology employer, Agilent is working diligently with Sonoma County and other major employers to expand airline service. We would appreciate your support of these important efforts with a Small Community Air Service Development Program grant.

The continuation of passenger air service to the Rutland-Southern Vermont Regional Airport is vital to the economic health of the region. Our region has a heavily tourist-based economy, and providing the passenger service in and out of Rutland is critical to the health of that economy.
We fully support the concept of increasing the number of passengers that both fly into and out of the airport. This award of funds requested in this proposal will enhance the effort to increase enplanements and support other aviation activities at the airport.

Commercial air service is important to the region as it supports multiple industry sectors, and therefore the health of our economy. The Rutland region is home to a number of employers who rely on regular air service to facilitate their day-to-day operations. These industries include manufacturing, public utilities, service providers, and tourism to name a few. It is critical that they be able to access regular service to and from the region.
We know that representatives of many of these businesses currently drive to Albany in order to accommodate flight needs. Being able to fly in and out of Rutland would be a significant help to them in order to meet their business goals so that they can stay and grow in the region. This is in addition to individuals who drive to Albany to fly for personal reasons. Stevens Wilcox Baker Potvin Cassidy & Jakubowski fully supports adding Albany as a destination from the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport.

Many people drive to the Albany Airport from the Rutland area. These individuals would be better served if they could originate their flights in Rutland.
