OST-2008-0045 - Delta's US-Guyana Application

Caribbean Airlines Limited

OST-2008-0053 - Exemption - Georgetown, Guyana-Trinidad & Tobago-US

February 5, 2008

Application for Exemption Authority

By this application, CAL seeks exemption authority to permit it to serve Georgetown, Guyana, as an intermediate and/or behind homeland point in conjunction with CAL's service between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States. Service between Georgetown and CAL's U.S. gateways, such as Miami and New York, would not only expand and strengthen CAL's presence in the Caribbean-U.S. market, it would also generate significant benefits for travelers and shippers. For example, CAL could operate single plane combination service from Miami to Port of Spain via Georgetown or from Miami to Georgetown via Port of Spain, depending on traffic patterns and volumes. In addition, CAL is interested in operating cargo service over a Miami-Port of Spain-Georgetown-Miami routing as part of its Caribbean-U.S. cargo program and is currently negotiating to obtain wet-leased aircraft to provide such service. The Georgetown authority requested herein clearly would enhance the efficiency of CAL's operations as well as improve air service between the Caribbean and the U.S.

The undersigned has conducted a poll of the relevant U.S. airlines and can report that there are no objections to a grant of the application. Consequently, expedited action on the application would be greatly appreciated.
