Application for an Exemption and Foreign Air Carrier Permit

The route authority requested here is provided for under the Agreement, which was signed by the two Governments on March 11, 2007. Air Canada requests authority to provide scheduled air service on the following routing:

  • From any point or points in Canada via intermediate points to any point or points in the United States and beyond.
  • Between the United States, and any point or points. (This route applies only to all-cargo services.)

Air Canada also requests authority to perform charter service on the routings authorized under Annex III of the Agreement, and in accordance with Part 212 of the DOT Regulations.

Letter Reminding Department of Application

On July 17, 2007, Air Canada submitted an application for an exemption and Foreign Air Carrier Permit that would enable it to take advantage of the expanded air service opportunities made available to it pursuant to the terms of the Open Skies Agreement between the United States and Canada signed on March 12th. The application requested authority coextensive with that provided for in Annex 1, Section 1.B of the Agreement, which includes the following routing:

  1. From points behind Canada via Canada and intermediate points to a point or points in the United States and beyond; and
  2. Between the United States and any point or points (for all-cargo services only).

Air Canada also requested charter authority consistent with the terms of the Agreement and Part 212 of the Department's regulations.
