OST-2007-28084 - Statements of Authorization - Singapore-US Codeshare

April 27, 2007

Joint Application for Statements of Authorization

Singapore Airlines Limited and US Airways, Inc. have entered into a commercial cooperation agreement to display each others' airline designator codes on certain flights operated by the other carrier. SIA and US hereby apply jointly, pursuant to 14 C.F.R. Part 212, for Statements of Authorization that would permit the carriers to implement the code-sharing arrangements for services between Singapore and the U.S. via intermediate and beyond points. The carriers request expedited treatment for this application.

SIA requests a Statement of Authorization to display the US Airways "US" code on any and all flights operated by SIA between Singapore and the U.S. (whether nonstop or via intermediate points), and from points beyond Singapore to points in third countries. Initially, SlA intends to display the US code on SIA's scheduled services between Singapore and:

  1. Los Angeles;
  2. San Francisco (via Hong Kong);
  3. Amsterdam;
  4. Manchester;
  5. Zurich;
  6. Brunei Darussalam;
  7. Jakarta; and
  8. Bali

US requests a Statement of Authorization to display the SIA "SQ" code on all flights operated by US beyond SIA's U.S. gateways. Initially, US intends to display the SIA code on the following flights:

  1. Between Los Angeles and Phoenix;
  2. Between Los Angeles and Las Vegas;
  3. Between San Francisco and Phoenix; and
  4. Between San Francisco and Las Vegas

The Joint Applicants request that the Department not limit the condition of the authority to serve intermediate and beyond points to only countries with which the United States has signed open-skies agreements and/or countries with which the carrier holds authority to serve under certificates or exemptions issued by the Department, and for which it holds route integration authority. The Department has previously deleted this condition for other code-share arrangements.
