Application for a Statement of Authorization

Lufthansa hereby requests a blanket statement of authorization pursuant to 14 C.F.R, Part 212 for authority to display the two-letter "KM" designator code of Air Malta on Lufthansa's nonstop flights between Germany and the United States, to the extent necessary to transport Air Malta passengers traveling between Malta and the United States via Germany as discussed below. Lufthansa and Air Malta plan to initiate the proposed code-share services on or about March 25, 2007.

Lufthansa has entered into a code‑share arrangement with Air Malta whereby Lufthansa plans to display Air Malta's two‑letter "KM" designator code on Lufthansa's flights between Munich, Germany, on the one hand, and New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (Dulles), on the other hand.

Lufthansa respectfully requests that the statement of authorization be granted expeditiously and remain in effect for an indefinite period. Lufthansa and Air Malta will notify the Department no later than 30 days before commencing any additional code-share services involving U.S. points not specified herein.

Application of Deutsche Lufthansa AG for a statement of authorization to permit Lufthansa to display the Air Malta designator code (KM*) on Lufthansa's scheduled flights between Munich, Germany, on the one hand, and New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (Dulles), on the other hand, to the extent necessary to transport Air Malta passengers traveling between Malta and the United States via Germany.

Notice of Additional Codesharing

Pursuant to the blanket Statement of Authorization granted to Deutsche Lufthansa AG by Department Action on Application in Docket DOT-OST-2007-27369 on December 14, 2007, Lufthansa hereby notifies the Department that, effective on or after February 15,2008, Air Malta's "KM" designator code will be displayed on flights operated by Lufthansa between:

• Munich, Germany and New York (EWR)

Lufthansa further notifies the Department that, effective on April 12, 2008, Lufthansa will discontinue displaying Air Malta's "KM" designator code on flights operated by Lufthansa between Munich, Germany, on the one hand, and New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (lAD), on the other hand.
