Continental Airlines, Inc. OST-2007-0086 - Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity - New York/Newark-Punta Cana, Dominican Republic November 27, 2007 Application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity Applies, pursuant to 49 U.S.C. § 41108 and 41102, Subpart B of the Department's Rules of Practice, and the Department's streamlining procedures, for a certificate of public convenience and necessity authorizing Continental to provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between a point or points in the United States and a point or points in the Dominican Republic. Continental is currently providing significant benefits to travelers and shippers by providing transportation between points throughout the United States and points in the Dominican Republic through Continental's hub at Newark Liberty International Airport. Continental currently offers nonstop flights between New York/Newark and Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santiago and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Granting Continental certificate authority to offer service between points in the United States and points in the Dominican Republic will allow Continental to continue providing such service for at least five more years, providing convenient access between points throughout Continental's route network and points in the Dominican Republic.
