Ghana International Airlines Limited OST-2007-0010 - Exemption - US-Ghana Codeshare with South African Airways October 9, 2007 Ghana International Airlines Limited hereby apples for an exemption from 49 U.S.C. §41301 authorizing it to engage in the scheduled air transportation of persons, property and mail from points behind the Republic of Ghana, via the Republic of Ghana and intermediate points to a point or points in the United States, and beyond, as authorized by the October 11, 2000 U.S.-Ghana Aviation Transport Services "Open Skies" Agreement. Applicant also requests authority to operate charters pursuant to 14 C.F.R. §212. Applicant plans to hold-out scheduled air service between Ghana and the United States pursuant to a code-share arrangement with South African Airways (Pty) Limited under which GIA's "GO" designator code will be displayed on flights operated by SAA. Applicant plans to initiate scheduled combinations operations to the U.S. with Airbus A-340-300 aircraft pursuant to a code-share agreement with SAA, and the airline intends to initially provide scheduled combination service between Accra, Ghana on the one hand, and New York's JFK International Airport, on the other hand, on a 4x weekly basis.
