Ghana International Airlines Limited OST-2007-0009 - Foreign Air Carrier Permit - US-Ghana Codeshare with South African Airways October 9, 2007 Application for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit
Ghana International Airlines Limited hereby submits its application for a foreign air carrier permit authorizing it to engage in the scheduled air transportation of persons, property and mail from points behind the Republic of Ghana, via the Republic of Ghana and intermediate points to a point or points in the United States, and beyond. Applicant plans to hold out scheduled air service between Ghana and the United States pursuant to a code-share arrangement with South African Airways (Pty) Limited under which GIA's "GO" designator code will be displayed on flights operated by SAA. GIA and SAA plan to begin their code-sharing services as soon as all governmental approvals have been made effective, but no later than January 15, 2008. Applicant plans to initiate scheduled combinations operations to the U.S. with Airbus A-340-300 aircraft pursuant to a code-share agreement with SAA, and the airline intends to initially provide scheduled combination service between Accra, Ghana on the one hand, and New York's JFK International Airport, on the other hand, on a 4x weekly basis.
