Motion for Modification
American Airlines, Inc. (and its affiliates American Eagle Airlines, Inc. and Executive Airlines, Inc. d/b/a American Eagle) and ALIA - The Royal Jordanian Airlines hereby request modification to the Notice of Action Taken in this docket on March 23, 2007. The Notice of Action Taken should be modified to reflect the traffic rights as set forth in Royal Jordanian's Foreign Air Carrier Permit (Order 1997-6-19) which states that Royal Jordanian is authorized to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation carrying persons, property and mail:
"from points behind Jordan, via Jordan and intermediate points, to a point or points in the United States, and beyond."
Accordingly, the Notice of Action Taken should be modified as follows:
American Exemption: Scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail (1) between points in Jordan, (2) between points in Jordan and points in the United States (either nonstop or via intermediate points), and (3) between points in Jordan and points in third countries, and the right to integrate this authority with their existing exemption and certificate authority. American seeks this authority to display its designator code on flights operated by Royal Jordanian.
Royal Jordanian Exemption: Scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail (1) between points in the United States, (2) between points in the United States and points in Jordan (either nonstop or via intermediate points), and (3) between points in the United States and point in third countries, and the right to integrate this authority with their existing foreign air carrier permits and exemptions. Royal Jordanian seeks this authority to display its designator code on flights operated by American. Royal Jordanian also requests exemption authority for at least two years.

Department Action on Application
Application of American Airlines, Inc. and Alia - The Royal Jordanian Airlines to amend American's Blanket Statement of Authorization to display Royal Jordanian's "RJ*" designator code in conjunction with foreign air transportation on flights operated by American (or its affiliates) (1) between points in the United States, (2) between points in the United States and points in Jordan (either nonstop or via intermediate points in third countries), and (3) between points in the United States and points in third countries (either nonstop or via intermediate points in third countries).
By Notice of Action Taken dated March 23, 2007, in the instant docket, the Department granted American's and Royal Jordanian's requests for exemption authority and blanket code-share authority. On July 20, 2007, American and Royal Jordanian filed a motion requesting that the Department modify the March 23 NOAT to reflect the traffic rights as set forth in Royal Jordanian's Foreign Air Carrier Permit, authorizing Royal Jordanian to engage in scheduled combination foreign air transportation from points behind Jordan, via Jordan and intermediate points, to a point or points in the United States, and beyond. By our action here, we grant American's request for amended statement of authorization and dismiss, as moot, the balance of American's request for amended exemption authority and Royal Jordanian's request for amended exemption authority and statement of authorization, as each carrier holds this requisite authority. See Order 2007-4-2 (American's blanket open-skies certificate authority), Order 1981-7-84 (Royal Jordanian's foreign air carrier permit), and NOAT dated March 23, 2007, in the instant docket (Royal Jordanian's statement of authorization).
