June 20, 2006

Application for an Exemption

Hereby applies for an exemption from 49 U.S.C. § 41301 to authorize AirMadrid to engage in (i) scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Los Angeles and Madrid and between Miami and Madrid, and (ii) charter foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail pursuant to the U.S.‑Spain Air Transport Agreement and Part 212 of the Department's Economic Regulations. AirMadrid plans to commence operations between Spain and the United States on October 29, 2006, providing scheduled combination service between Los Angeles and Madrid and between Miami and Madrid. AirMadrid requests that this exemption authority be processed expeditiously and granted for a period of one year or until foreign air carrier permit authority issued to AirMadrid becomes effective, whichever is sooner.
