Essential Air Service at Joplin, Missouri Order 2006-5-11 Issued May 12, 2006 | Served May 17, 2006 Order Selecting Carrier and Establishing Final Subsidy Rate By this order, the Department is selecting Air Midwest, Inc., d/b/a US Airways Express, to provide essential air service at Joplin, Missouri, for a two-year period at a subsidy of $849,757 annually. Mesa has informed us that it expects Air Midwest to be able to begin service at Joplin about 60 to 90 days after selection, at which time we will end our reliance on Trans States to provide essential air service there. We expect Mesa/Air Midwest and Trans States to coordinate the transition in essential air service responsibilities. In particular, we expect Trans States to contact all travelers holding reservations for flights that it intends to suspend, to inform them of the suspension and the availability of Air Midwest’s replacement service, and to secure alternate air transportation for such travelers or to provide them with a refund of their ticket price. without penalty, if requested.
