OST-2005-22737 - Comair - Cincinnati-Cancun
|
Comair Inc. OST-2005-22737 - Exemption - Cincinnati-Cancun October 14, 2005 Comair seeks an exemption and the new U.S.-Mexico third designation opportunity to provide "Delta Connection" service between Cincinnati and Cancun using Comair's 70-seat CRJ-700 aircraft, beginning on or about December 15, 2005. The proposed services are important to enable Delta and Comair to optimize service and capacity offered on the route. Delta currently provides daily Boeing 737-800 service. However, due to the wide fluctuations of demand for service to Cancun on different days of the week, Delta's mainline aircraft produce surplus capacity on offpeak days. Grant of this application will enable the carriers to improve the efficiency of their joint operation, with Comair providing service with 70-seat aircraft on offpeak days. Further, during the high season, Comair will be able to supplement Delta's mainline service with additional CRJ-70 frequencies. The improved scheduling efficiency is critical to Delta's ability to maintain daily year-round service, especially in light of recent fuel cost increases. Comair and Delta seek to market and sell their service without delay, and accordingly request that the necessary exemption be granted as soon as possible. OST-2005-21284 - Delta - Exemption - Orlando-Cancun November 22, 2005 In light of the severe damage Hurricane Wilma has inflicted on Cancun, Delta Air Lines, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Comair, Inc. have modified their start-up plans with respect to the above-referenced routes, as described in Attachment A. Delta anticipates that it will institute service on most of the subject routes by June 1, 2006, and requests that any dormancy condition run from that date. Delta is monitoring the situation in Cancun and hopes that it may be able to institute service sooner in some markets. Accordingly, Delta urges the Department to grant the requested economic authority for the identified routes as soon as possible. Finally, Delta no longer has active service plans for Orlando-Cancun, and hereby withdraws that application. Attachment A:
