OST-2005-22677 - Exemption - Leon/El Bajio-Ontario, California; Morelia-Ontario, California October 5, 2005 By this application, Aeromexico seeks an exemption to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Leon/El Bajio and Morelia, Mexico, on the one hand, and Ontario, California, on the other. Aeromexico proposes to offer nonstop service over each route three days per week with B-737-700 or other appropriate aircraft, starting January 10, 2006. November 3, 2006 Application for Renewal of Exemption Authority By this application, Aeromexico seeks renewal of its exemption authority to provide service between Leon/Bajio and Morelia, on the one hand, and Ontario, on the other. The authority currently is set to expire on December 2, 2006. Aeromexico is offering several weekly nonstop round trips in the Leon/Bajio-Ontario market with MD80 Series aircraft, and it desires to renew the authority so that it will be able to continue that service. Aeromexico's service in this market has resulted in significant benefits for the traveling public and has improved air service between Mexico and the United States. Aeromexico currently is offering connecting service in the Morelia-Ontario market, but intends to institute nonstop service when warranted by traffic volumes and would like to renew the authority. January 18, 2008 By Notice of Action Taken dated February 15, 2007, in the above-referenced docket, the Department granted exemption authority to Aerovias de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. to engage in foreign air transportation between Leon/EI Bajio and Morelia, Mexico, on the one hand, and Ontario, California, on the other. The exemption is to expire on February 15, 2008. Please be advised that Aeromexico does not intend to seek renewal of this exemption authority.
