Application for Statement of Authorization

Mesa operates flights with its own aircraft and crew within the United States" on behalf of US Airways under the "US Airways Express" name pursuant to a code-share agreement. US Airways and Lufthansa hold authority from the Department to engage in code sharing on a reciprocal basis pursuant to an alliance agreement between those carriers." Mesa is not an original party to that agreement, but Mesa, US Airways, and Lufthansa have signed a Code-Share Agreement Letter, thereby adding Mesa as a party to the US Airways/Lufthansa agreement. Mesa also hereby incorporates by reference all city pairs notified to the Department by US Airways and/or Lufthansa in Docket OST-03-15946

Supplement to the Application for Statement of Authorization

This Supplement to the Application provides copies of the signed and dated Amendment 2 to the Alliance Agreement and US Express Carriers' Code Share Agreement Letter, Mesa is not a Lufthansa Regional Carrier, therefore the LH Regional Carriers' Code Share Agreement Letter was and has been provided as a form example only.

In addition, Mesa hereby requests that its subsidiary airline, Air Midwest, Inc. also be granted authorization to display Lufthansa's designator code on all flights operated by Air Midwest on behalf of US Airways. Mesa submits this supplemental request for the purposes outlined in the Application.

Corrected Decision - Statement of Authorization

Corrects decision dated July 7, 2005, to reflect that Mesa's subsidiary airline, Air Midwest, Inc., should also be granted authority to display Lufthansa's code on flights operated by Air Midwest on behalf of US Airways.

Pursuant to the blanket statements of authorization issued in the above-referenced dockets, US Airways and Lufthansa hereby notify the Department that, commencing February 24, 2006, Lufthansa will begin codesharing on flights operated by US Airways and/or its affiliated and express carriers between:

  • Charlotte and Huntsville/Decatur, Alabama
  • Charlotte and Birmingham, Alabama
  • Charlotte and Memphis, Tennessee

Notice of Additional Codesharing

Deutsche Lufthansa AG and US Airways, Inc. in Docket OST-2003-15946, Lufthansa hereby notifies the Department that, effective on or after August 1, 2008, US Airways' "US" designator code will be displayed on flights operated by Lufthansa between:

Frankfurt, Germany and Athens, Greece
Frankfurt, Germany and Bahrain
Frankfurt, Germany and Doha, Qatar
Frankfurt, Germany and Kolkata, India
Frankfurt, Germany and Stavanger, Norway
Munich, Germany and Athens, Greece
Munich, Germany and Zagreb, Croatia

Code sharing between Munich and Zagreb will not be implemented until the Open Skies Agreement between the United States and Croatia goes into effect.

In addition, effective on or after August 1,2008, Lufthansa's "LH" designator code will be displayed on flights operated by US Airways and/or its affiliated and express carriers between:

Charlotte, North Carolina and Austin, Texas
Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona
