|
Northwest Airlines, Inc. OST-2004-17677 - Exemption - US-Port of Spain Codeshare with Continental April 29, 2004 Northwest seeks authority so it can provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between any point or points in the United States and Port of Spain by codesharing on flights operated by Continental. Continental commences Houston‑Port of Spain service on June 10, 2004, and Northwest plans to begin codesharing on those Continental flights at that time, or as soon thereafter as requisite government approvals have been secured. Continental has certificate authority from the Department to operate flights between all U.S. points, including Houston, and Port of Spain. See Continental's Route 29F, Order 2000-8-19. The Department granted Northwest exemption authority to conduct codeshare service on Continental's Newark-Port of Spain flights in August 2003 (see Notice of Action Taken on August 27, 2003, in Docket OST-2003-15750), and Northwest currently is awaiting foreign approval to implement codesharing on those flights. The proposed Northwest/Continental codeshare service is fully consistent with Air Transport Agreement between the U.S. and Trinidad and Tobago Counsel: Northwest, Megan Rae Rosia, 202-842-3193, megan.rosia@nwa.com
