Shuttle America Corporation OST-04-17011 - Intent to Terminate Service at Trenton, NJ January 30, 2004 Notice of Intent to Terminate Service Shuttle America intends to terminate all of its scheduled services at TTN on or about May 1, 2004. Shuttle America currently operates one roundtrip flight each weekday between TTN and Pittsburgh (PIT) using Saab 340 aircraft. Shuttle America also operates one daily roundtrip flight and four roundtrip flights per day on weekdays (with the exception of one flight that is not operated on Fridays) between TTN and Bedford, MA (BED) using Saab 340 aircraft. TTN is within 70 driving miles of Philadelphia International Airport, a large hub. Accordingly, the Department is prohibited from paying a subsidy for service to TTN, and may not prohibit Shuttle America from terminating service after the end of the 90‑day notice period. Counsel: Shaw Pittman, Robert Cohn, 202-663-8060 Essential Air Service at Trenton, New Jersey Order 04-3-7 Issued: March 11, 2004 | Served: March 16, 2004 Order Allowing Suspension of Service | Word By this order, the Department is allowing Shuttle America Corporation, d/b/a US Airways Express, to suspend its scheduled service at Trenton, New Jersey, effective May 31, 2004, because it is less than 70 driving miles from Philadelphia International Airport. On January 30, 2004, Shuttle America filed a 90-day notice of its intent to suspend service at Trenton effective May 31, 2004.1 The carrier currently operates one round trip a week between Trenton and Pittsburgh and five round trips a week between Trenton and Bedford, using 34-seat SAAB 340 aircraft. Shuttle America is the only carrier providing service at Trenton. Order 92-12-9 defines Trenton’s EAS determination as at least two nonstop round trips a day to any hub airport. By: Karan Bhatia |
