Continental Airlines, Inc, OST-2003-15502 - Exemption - US-Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, Colombia, India, Ireland, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Spain and Turkey Codeshare and US-Russia Frequencies June 24, 2003 Application for an Exemption and for US-Russia Frequencies applies pursuant to 49 U.S.C. § 40109 and Subpart C of the Department's Rules of Practice for an exemption from 49 U.S.C. § 41101 authorizing Continental to provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Cincinnati and Nassau, Bahamas; between Boston and Bermuda; between Atlanta and Sao Paulo, Brazil; between Atlanta and Bogota, Colombia; between Paris, France and Bombay, India; between Atlanta and Dublin, Ireland; between Atlanta and Cancun, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey, and San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; between Cincinnati and Cancun, Mexico; between Los Angeles and Guadalajara and Mexico City, Mexico; between New York (JFK) and Mexico City, Mexico; between Atlanta and Lima, Peru; between New York and Moscow, Russia; between Atlanta and New York and Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; and between New York and Istanbul, Turkey, as well as integration authority to combine this exemption authority with Continental's other exemption and certificate authority. Continental also requests 3.5 weekly U.S.-Russia frequencies to permit Continental to offer daily New York(JFK) -Moscow service on Delta's flights. Continental intends to provide these services pursuant to its codeshare arrangement with Delta and asks that the Department issue its authority as soon as possible, effective for a minimum of two years. July 2, 2003 Continental' has polled the carriers on the service list for the June 24, 2003 application of Continental for exemption authority and Russia frequencies to codeshare with Delta and has received non-objections from all carriers. Continental states that it will continue to provide this service pursuant to its code-share arrangement with Delta Air Lines, Inc., whereby Continental will place its “CO” code on flights operated by Delta on the subject routes.
Continental uses this authority to provide U.S.-Mumbai service via Paris. Continental originally got this authority as a Paris-Bombay route. Continental requests that the authority be renewed to reflect the city’s current name of Mumbai.
Continental states that all Mexico services will be offered on a seasonal basis. Continental states that it was originally awarded 3.5 Russian frequencies for code-sharing services with Delta between JFK and Moscow. Continental is no longer code-sharing with Delta on that route and the frequencies have been returned for dormancy. Continental states that it will not offer local New York (JFK)-Madrid service on Delta’s flights. By: Paul Gretch
June 11, 2007 Application for Renewal of an Exemption Continental applies pursuant to 49 U.S.C. 40109 and Subpart C of the Department's Rules of Practice for renewal of its exemption from 49 U.S.C. 41101 authorizing Continental to provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Cincinnati and Nassau, Bahamas; between Boston and Bermuda; between Atlanta and Sao Paulo, Brazil; between Atlanta and Bogota, Colombia; between Atlanta and Cancun, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey, and San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; between Cincinnati and Cancun, Mexico; between Los Angeles and Guadalajara, Mexico; between New York (JFK) and Mexico City, Mexico; between Atlanta and New York and Madrid and Barcelona, Spain and between Atlanta and Dublin, Ireland. Continental seeks renewed authority to provide this service pursuant to its codeshare arrangement with Delta. The authority was renewed by Notice of Action Taken, Docket OST-2003-15502, August 11, 2005. Continental's renewed exemption authority will expire August 11, 2007, Continental requests renewal of its Atlanta-Dublin and Atlanta/New York-Madrid/Barcelona authority only through March 30, 2008, when Continental will hold such authority pursuant to its blanket open-skies certificate issued by Order 2007-4-19. Continental does not require any renewal of its authority between Paris and Mumbai, between Atlanta and Lima, or between New York and Istanbul because Continental holds authority for such services pursuant to its blanket open-skies certificate. Continental does not require renewed route integration authority since Continental holds blanket route integration certificate authority issued by Order 2006-1-1, and Continental does not require renewed New York-Moscow authority because Continental holds New York/Newark-Moscow authority pursuant to Notice of Action Taken, Docket OST-2004-19375, January 3, 2005 and a renewal application submitted on October 23, 2006 pursuant to Part 377 of the Department's regulations.
