Sun D'or International Airlines Ltd. May 1, 2003 OST-03-15094 - Tel Aviv, Israel-Orlando, Florida/ Tel Aviv, Israel-Las Vegas, Nevada Sun D'or has recently been designated by the Government of Israel to operate charter service to and from the United States under the Air Transport Agreement between the United States and Israel. To perform this service, Sun Dor will wet lease a B777 aircraft from El Al Israel Airlines Ltd., an Israeli company headquartered at Ben Gurion Airport. Sun D'or v.-ill initially operate one weekly roundtrip between Tel Aviv and Orlando, Florida and Tel Aviv and Las Vegas, Nevada during the period June 27, 2003 to September 5, 2003. Sun D'or is a subsidiary of and fully owned by El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. and started operations in 1978. It currently operates B757-200 and B737-800 charter service within Israel to destinations throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and the Mediterranean. Sun D'or also operates wet leased B747-200, B747-400, 767, and 777 aircraft from El Al. In 2002 it carried over 250.000 passengers. The company's headquarters are at Ben Gurion Airport. Sun D'or intends to pursue commercial opportunities beyond the two U.S. points for which it originally requested authority and intends to utilize Boeing 747, 757, and 777 aircraft wet‑leased from El Al to perform these operations. Sun D’or would conduct these services only by wet leasing aircraft from a duly authorized and properly supervised U.S. or foreign air carrier. By: Paul Gretch OST-03-15094 - Israel-US Exemption March 25, 2004 Application for Renewal of Exemption Sun D'or International Airlines Ltd., pursuant to 49 U.S.C. § 40109 and Subpart C of the Department's Rules of Practice, hereby applies for renewal of its exemption from 49 U.S.C. §41301 to permit Sun D'or to engage in charter foreign air transportation with wet-leased aircraft of persons, property, and mail between a point or points in Israel, on the one hand, and a point or points in the United States, on the other, either directly or via intermediate points, with or without stopovers and beyond, subject to the terms, conditions and limitations of the Department's regulations governing charters. Sun D'or's initial exemption was issued in a Notice of Action Taken on August 8, 2003, authorizing Sun D'or to engage in foreign air transportation between Tel Aviv, on the one hand, and Orlando, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada, on the other, using wet‑leased equipment. On January 12, 2004, Sun D'or applied for an amended exemption authorizing it to operate all the services to which it is entitled under the U.S. Israel Air Services Agreement. The Department amended Sun D'or's exemption but retained the original expiration date of August 8, 2004. Sun D'or's application for a foreign air carrier permit remains pending. Docket OST-03-15095.
