US Airways, Inc.

OST-02-12481 June 11, 2002 Application for an Exemption Washington Reagan - Nassau-Bahamas
    Exhibits A-B: Service Proposal
    Service List

Application of US Airways, Inc., pursuant to 49 U.S.C. Section 40109 and Subpart C, requesting an exemption from 49 U.S.C. Section 41101, to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between Washington, DC and Nassau, Bahamas, with services beginning in November 2002.

The proposed service from Washington, D.C. will also compete with nonstop flights to Nassau and the Bahamas currently offered by other carriers from other U.S. gateways. Furthermore, it will help DCA's continuing post-September 11 recovery.  US Airways plans to operate its daily Washington, D.C.-Nassau (Bahamas) service on a year-round basis commencing in November 2002. For this service, US Airways plans to utilize A-319 aircraft, currently in its fleet, with 120 seats configured as 12F/108Y. A route map illustrating the proposed service and a proposed, illustrative service schedule are attached as Exhibit NAS-A. The anticipated annual operating statistics and fuel consumption estimates are attached as Exhibit NAS-B.

US Airways currently operates jet service to numerous markets in the Caribbean, including Antigua, Aruba, the Bahamas (Nassau and Freeport), Barbados, Bermuda, Cancun and Cozumel, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas and St. Croix), Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, and the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo).

Application for Renewal of an Exemption

Applies for renewal of its exemptions to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between Boston, Massachusetts, and Nassau, Bahamas (Docket OST-02-13854, NOAT issued December 4, 2002), between New York (LGA), New York, and Nassau, Bahamas (Docket OST-00-7339, NOAT issued April 15, 2002), and between Washington, DC, and Nassau, Bahamas (Docket OST-02-12481, NOAT issued July 3, 2002). In addition, US Airways requests that the Department give these three exemption authorities a common expiration date, and, to the extent permitted, consolidate these Nassau exemption authorities into one of these dockets.

US Airways currently operates service or plans to resume service in each of these markets using Airbus and/or Boeing aircraft.

With this renewal application, US Airways seeks to renew these exemption authorities and further requests that the Department establish a common expiration date for them. Furthermore, to the extent possible, US Airways requests that its Nassau exemption authorities be consolidated into one docket. Establishing a common expiration date for these Nassau exemption authorities and further consolidating them in a single docket would facilitate the administration and processing of US Airways' Nassau exemption authorities for the Department as well as US Airways. It would also obviate the need for multiple renewal filings.

Re: Withdraw of Applications for Renewal

US Airways withdraws these applications because of the July 26, 2004 Notice of Action Taken in Docket OST-01-9766, which granted broad economic authority for US Airways service to and from Bahamas and rendered the above-referenced applications moot.
