Application for Renewal of Certificate Authority

Houston- Lima, Peru

Continental currently operates daily non-stop service between Houston and Lima using B-757 aircraft, and renewal of Continental’s Route 699 certificate authority is clearly in the public interest. The same considerations that led the Department to select Continental’s service in the U.S.-Lima Combination Service Proceeding (1996) remain valid today and justify renewal of the authority. (See Orders 96-4-48 and 96-6-53) Continental operates the only U.S.-flag nonstop service between Houston and Lima, and renewal of Continental’s Route 699 certificate authority will ensure continuation of the airline and intergateway competition Continental has introduced on this route.
