Alitalia Express operates regional commuter carrier services for Alitalia under a wet lease agreement on routes within Italy and between Italy and other European countries. On certain routes Alitalia Express also sells tickets under its own designator code and with a codeshare agreement to display Alitalia's code. Alitalia Express operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, including seven ATR-72, six ATR-42, and eight ERJ-145 planes.

Grant of this application will serve the public interest by enabling Alitalia and Delta Air Lines to offer to the public an expanded range of codeshared services by fully connecting the route networks of Alitalia and Delta. By placing its code on flights operated by Alitalia Express, Delta will be able to provide competitive serve benefits, travel options, and trade development for U.S. passengers, shippers, and communities.
