OST-99-6043 July 30, 1999 Application for Renewal and Amendment of Statement of Authorization

Scanned Copy

Blocked Space Codeshare with Qantas Airways
    Service List

Evergreen seeks renewal of a statement of authorization allowing it to place Qantas, "QF" code on flights operated by Evergreen between Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, and Toledo, on the one hand and Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, on the other, via Nadi, Fiji pursuant to a codeshare/blocked space agreement between Evergreen and Qantas.  Evergreen also requests amendment of its current statement of authorization to permit it to place the Qantas code on certain Evergreen flights operated between the United States and Australia that serve Atlanta, Georgia and on certain flights that serve Auckland, New Zealand (as a permitted intermediate point between the United States and Australia.) These flights would be operated via certain of the U.S. points and certain of the Australian points in Evergreen's current statement of authorization, identified in the prior paragraph. Evergreen requests the same flexibility to operate any number of flights between authorized points and, at its option, serve the points in any order and or not serve each authorized point on a given flight. Evergreen desires to commence the new blocked space/code-share operations with Qantas at Auckland on August 19, 1999 and at Atlanta on August 21, 1999. Evergreen has been advised by Qantas that the Government of Australia shortly will notify the U.S. government of its nomination of Atlanta (in lieu of Memphis) pursuant to the bilateral agreement between the two countries in time for service to commence on that date.

OST-99-6043 March 8, 2002 Re:  Carriers Have Temporarily Discontinued Code-Share Operations Blocked-Space Codeshare with Qantas

This is to notify the Department that although Evergreen and Qantas continue to hold the necessary underlying authority to operate the code-share services at issue, and the code-share agreement between Evergreen and Qantas remains in effect, the carriers have temporarily discontinued their code-share operations. Evergreen and Qantas are hopeful that as international air markets recover from the tragic events of September 11, 2001, it will be possible to resume their code share services between the United States and Australia. Evergreen and Qantas have agreed that by continuing the code-share agreement in effect, it will be possible to resume code-share services in the future without having to submit an application for a new statement of authorization.
