OST-99-5078 May 8, 2001 Application for Renewal of Exemption Amsterdam-Antwerp
    Service List

Air Exel Netherlands B.V. hereby requests renewal of the exemption authority granted to it by the Department of Transportation in the above-captioned docket authorizing Air Exel to perform scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Antwerp, Belgium, pursuant to a codeshare agreement with Northwest Airlines, Inc. Air Exel's current exemption expires on May 17, 2001. Air Exel requests renewal of this exemption for a two-year period on its existing terms and conditions.

Air Exel was formed in April 1991 and instituted service the following month by assuming from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines responsibility for operations on the Maastricht-Amsterdam route. Air Exel's business has expanded significantly since 1991, and today Air Exel serves numerous points in the Netherlands as well as major cities in other European countries. The Department has found previously that Air Exel is operationally and financially qualified to operate the type of codeshare services encompassed by this renewal application, and that it is substantially owned and effectively controlled by citizens of the Netherlands.

Air Exel currently operates four flights daily between Amsterdam and Antwerp utilizing Aerospatiale/Alenia ATR aircraft.
