Notice to Airlines and Companies Writing Aviation Insurance Policies

We submit for your review a request by the Lloyd's Market Association and the International Underwriting Association for approval of both AVN 48C (War, Hi-Jacking and Other Perils) and AVN 48D (War, Hi-Jacking and Other Perils) as permitted war and terrorism exclusions for aircraft operators' policies.
Both AVN 48C and AVN 48D would update the perils listed in sub-paragraph (b) of AVN 48B to address the perceived heightened potential for new exposures arising from terrorist activity and Weapons of Mass Destruction perils. Specifically, the updated clauses which use substantially similar language, except for the differences noted below-would introduce the following particularized exclusions for WMD perils:
