Following the merger of Fast Air into Ladeco, the current all-cargo services of Fast Air will be operated by Ladeco using the trade name "Fast Air." Doing business as Fast Air, Ladeco will provide scheduled all-cargo service between Chile and Miami, New York and Los Angeles via various intermediate points and will conduct wet lease and charter operations as permitted by Department authorizations. Fast Air will no longer use the authority previously granted to it by the Department. Fast Air's current authority is limited to operations via specific named intermediate points. Because the U.S.-Chile Air Transport Agreement allows operations via unlimited intermediate points, Ladeco's request is also for unlimited intermediate points and, in that respect, is broader that the authority currently held by Fast Air.

| OST-1998-4682 | Filed October 30, 1998 Action Taken November 6, 1998 |
Notice of Action Taken | Chile-New York/Los Angeles via Intermediate Scheduled All-Cargo - Fast Air |
Exemption from 49 U.S.C. § 41301 to (1) engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of property and mail between Chile and the coterminal points New York, New York, and Los Angeles, California, via intermediate points; and (2) serve its authorized U.S. gateways as coterminal points. Ladeco states that it is seeking this authority in connection with the planned merger of Fast Air Carrier, S.A. (Fast Air) into Ladeco (Ladeco and Fast Air are subsidiaries of Lan Chile, S.A.). The subject merger will become effective on or about November 17, 1998, at which time Fast Air will cease to exits as a separate corporate entity. The assets of Fast Air, including its aircraft, will become assets of Ladeco. Thereafter, the all-cargo services previously operated by Fast Air will be operated by Ladeco.
