Order Allowing Suspension of Service

After reviewing this matter, we will allow Mesa to suspend service at Santa Fe as scheduled. Under the essential air service program's appropriation, the Department is prohibited from paying subsidy for service at any community located within 70 highway miles of a FAAdesignated large or medium hub. Santa Fe is located just 64 highway miles from Albuquerque International Airport, a medium hub. Consequently we cannot pay cubsidy to support Mesa's service, and thus cannot compel Mesa to continue to serve Santa Fe beyond the end of the 90-day notice period.
