Continental Micronesia proposes to begin providing 4 weekly roundtrip B-727 combination flights between Guam and Niigata and between Guam and Okayama beginning on July 1, 1998. Continental Micronesia requires authority immediately, however, to make necessary arrangements in Japan and to begin selling these flights to Japanese tourists in these developmental markets. The proposed combination flights will become part of the network of services provided by Continental Micronesia between Guam and points throughout Asia, Micronesia, the South Pacific and Hawaii and offer the first nonstop scheduled service ever between Guam and Niigata or Okayama. The award of Guam/SaipanNiigata/Okayama authority to Continental Micronesia will serve the public interest in offering U.S.-flag service at additional points in Japan, expanding tourism in Guam and throughout Continental Micronesia's Pacific network, and strengthening Continental Micronesia's Guam hub.
