Continental Micronesia proposes to begin providing roundtrip B-727 combination flights between Guam and Cairns, Australia, beginning in July 1998. The proposed combination flights will become part of the network of services provided by Continental Micronesia between Guam and points throughout Asia, Micronesia, the South Pacific and Hawaii and offer the first direct service ever between Guam and Cairns.

Continental Micronesia currently operates two weekly roundtrip flights between Guam and Cairns utilizing B-737-800 aircraft. Continental Micronesia's exemption authority for Guam-Cairns service was originally granted by Notice of Action Taken dated January 9, 1998, later confirmed by Order 98-1-23. If not renewed, Continental Micronesia's Guam-Cairns exemption authority will expire on January 9, 2000.

Continental Micronesia applies to renew its exemption authority to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Guam and Cairns, Australia and to integrate this authority with its other exemption and certificate authority. Continental Micronesia asks that its authority be renewed for no less than two years or until Continental Micronesia's application for Guam-Cairns certificate authority submitted today in Dockets OST-2005-22228 and OST-1997-2558 is granted, whichever is later.
Continental Micronesia recognizes that its request for route integration authority will become moot if the Department issues a final order granting Continental Micronesia's application for certificate authority granted tentatively by Order 2005-12-5.
Continental Micronesia currently operates two weekly roundtrip flights between Guam and Cairns utilizing B-737-800 aircraft. Continental Micronesia's exemption authority for Guam-Cairns service was originally granted by Notice of Action Taken dated January 9, 1998, later confirmed by Order 1998-1-23, and was most recently renewed by Notice of Action Taken dated April 14, 2004. If not renewed, Continental Micronesia's Guam-Cairns exemption authority will expire on April 14, 2006.

In the present application, Continental Micronesia references a pending application for corresponding certificate authority in Dockets OST-1997-2558 and OST-2005-22228. We will handle the certificate request separately.
The carrier’s request for route integration authority has been superseded by Order 2006-1-1, where the Department awarded the carrier a blanket route integration certificate.
