Antonov Design Bureau (Emergency Exemption)
OST-97-3143 | November 20, 1997
Application
for an Emergency Exemption
General Electric Aircraft Engines ("GEAE") has requested that Antonov operate three one-way all-cargo charter flights, each carrying three GE90 aircraft engines, and related components. The first flight will carry three engines from Seattle, Washington to Wilmington, Ohio. GEAE must return these engines to its Peebles, Ohio Test Facility for critical diagnostic testing and evaluation. The following two flights will carry a total of six engines from Wilmington to Seattle. GEAE must deliver these engines to the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company ("Boeing") in Seattle for testing and installation on Boeing's model 777 aircraft. Each engine measures approximately 23.83 x 12.58 x 13.17 feet, and is too large to fit into any freighter aircraft operated by U.S. carriers.
