Antonov Design Bureau (Emergency Exemption)

OST-97-2922 | September 22, 1997

Application for an Emergency Exemption

General Electric Aircraft Engines ("GEAE") has contracted for Antonov to ship one GE90 aircraft engine, and related components, from Wilmington, Ohio to Seattle, Washington. The engine measures approximately 23.83 x 12.58 x 13.17 feet, and is too large to fit on any freighter aircraft operated by U.S. carriers. The GE90 engine is to be installed on a model 777 aircraft manufactured by the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company ("Boeing"). Boeing requires the engine to be transported to Seattle as soon as GEAE has completed its testing and production, so that Boeing can install the engine to meet an airplane delivery deadline. GEAE anticipates that the engine will be ready for shipment on or about September 26, 1997.
