| OST-97-2828 | October 29, 1998 | Answer of State of Hawaii | Nadi, Fiji - Toronto, Canada via Honolulu / Nadi via Auckland and/or Honolulu-Los Angeles/Vancouver/Toronto |
Air Pacific's Fiji and New Zealand service is important because Hawaii is one of the most geographically isolated land masses in the world and air service links are critical to Hawaii's economy. The trade and tourist industries comprise the foundation of Hawaii's economy, and both industries are uniquely dependent on international air service. Air Pacific's Nadi and Auckland services provide Hawaii with enhanced air service and generate millions of dollars in trade and tourist revenue, bolstering Hawaii's economy.
