OST-97-2115

Amerijet International, Inc.

OST-97-2115 December 4, 1998 pdficon.gif (87 bytes)Application for Renewal of Exemption Los Angeles, California - Mexico City, Guadalajara and Merida, Mexico
    Service List

Approval of this request for renewal of Amerijet's existing authority is in the public interest. Although Amerijet has not instituted direct air service in the Los Angeles-Mexico market, it fully intends to exercise its authority in the future. As the Department knows, the pendency of an FAA rulemaking proceeding (Docket 97-FAA-81-AD) has made it necessary for carriers to proceed very cautiously with the conversion of Boeing 727 passenger aircraft to a cargo configuration. It is not possible to predict when or how that FAA proceeding will be resolved but, when it is, Amerijet will be in a far better position to determine how it should allocate scarce equipment resources among new and existing terminals.
