Application for Renewal of Exemption

The San Jose-Puerto Vallarta and San Jose-San Jose del Cabo routes represent an integral part of Alaska's West Coast-Mexico service, an international market in which Alaska is continuing to expend considerable resources. Alaska has a sizeable infrastructure in Mexico, and has made a commitment to and does provide a superior level of service in the West Coast-Mexico markets. Alaska has been providing service in the San Jose-San Jose del Cabo and San Jose-Puerto Vallarta markets since the Fall of 1996.   Alaska plans to commence seasonal service in the San Jose-Puerto Vallarta and San Jose-San Jose del Cabo markets on October 1, 1998, and to operate daily, nonstop flights in these markets between the months of October and June. Alaska also plans to operate similar service during the 1999-2000 winter season. All operations will be conducted with Stage 3 B-737 or MD-80 aircraft.

Scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between (1) the terminal point San Jose, California, and the terminal point Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and (2) the terminal point San Jose, California, and the terminal point San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, on a seasonal basis.

Alaska Airlines, Inc.

Alaska operates scheduled flights between San Jose and Puerto Vallarta/San Jose del Cabo on a seasonal basis between October and April. Flights are operated four times weekly from San Jose to Puerto Vallarta and San Jose del Cabo with MD-80 and B-737 aircraft. Service between these points is expected to resume October 29, 2000.
