American Trans Air, Inc. (Exemption Renewal, New York-Belfast/Shannon)
OST-95-963 (48575) | OST-95-964 | January 7, 1998
Application
for Renewal of Exemptions and Motion
ATA has successfully operated between New York and Ireland for more than 10 years. In 1996, under its then newly issued authority, ATA commenced seasonal scheduled service in the New York-Belfast market as well as in the New York-Dublin/Shannon markets. ATA subsequently suspended scheduled service in these New York-Ireland markets in 1997. ATA thereafter provided seasonal charter service to Ireland and continues to do so. ATA provides this service with 757 aircraft configured for 216 passengers. Such service is operated 5 days per week with one flight offered each flight day. ATA proposes to continue to offer such seasonal charter service, but is again also considering reinstating scheduled service as a compliment to its charter service.

| OST-95-963 | November 12, 1999 | Application for Renewal of Exemption | New York- Belfast, Ireland |
hereby requests renewal of the exemption authority granted to it by the Department of Transportation in the above-captioned docket to perform scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between New York, New York and Belfast. Northern Ireland, both as a terminal and intermediate point with continuing service to Shannon, Ireland. This exemption authority expires on January 1 5, 2000. ATA requests renewal of this authority for a two-year period on its existing terms and conditions. ATA relies upon the provisions of the Administrative Procedures Act and Part 377 of the Department's procedural regaulations to continue its existing authorization in force pending a final decision on this renewal request.
ATA commenced seasonal scheduled service in the New York-Belfast market in 1996. ATA does not today operate scheduled flights to Belfast, it continues to examine the possibility or reinstating scheduled service as an adjunct to charter services and therefore wishes to maintain its exemption in effect.
