Applcation for Renewal of Exemption

TAP AIR PORTUGAL ("TAP'') respectfully requests renewal of an exemption from 49 U.S.C. § 41301 which authorizes it to provide scheduled air transportation of persons, property and mail under the terms, conditions and definitions set forth in the Air Transport Agreement entered into by the Governments of the United States and Portugal on December 6, 1945, as amended. The exemption, last renewed in this docket on January 6, 1997, authorizes TAP to provide service between Portugal and the terminal points Boston, Massachusetts and New York, New York; and between Portugal, via an intermediate point in Canada, and Los Angeles, California.

Application for renewal of its exemption to serve between (1) Portugal and the coterminal points Boston and New York and (2) Portugal, via an intermediate point in Canada, and Los Angeles.  TAP currently provides service to Boston and New York (at both the EWR and JFK airports) and intends to resume service to Los Angeles when conditions warrant.
