Northwest plans to begin Detroit-Punta Cana service during the upcoming winter season and will operate the service on a seasonal basis. Northwest respectfully requests expedited treatment of this application so that Northwest may promptly begin marketing its proposed new service. Northwest intends to poll the carriers named on the attached service list regarding this application and Northwest's request for expedited treatment, and will promptly notify the Department once the poll has been completed.
Northwest plans to operate once weekly Detroit-Punta Cana scheduled combination service on a seasonal basis beginning with the upcoming winter season. Northwest will serve the market utilizing A320 aircraft configured with 148 seats (16 first class and 132 economy class).

Northwest seeks renewal of an exemption authorizing it to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Detroit, Michigan and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and permitting integration with Northwest's existing exemption and certificate authority to the extent bilaterally authorized.
Northwest will continue to operate once weekly Detroit-Punta Cana scheduled combination service on a seasonal basis. Northwest will serve the market utilizing A320 aircraft configured with 148 seats (16 first class and 132 economy class). Northwest does not anticipate any difficulty obtaining fuel to operate the proposed service.

Application for Renewal of an Exemption
Northwest hereby requests renewal of its exemption from 49 U.S.C. § 41101 authorizing Northwest to provide scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail between Detroit, Michigan and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and to integrate such authority with Northwest’s existing certificate and exemption authority to the extent bilaterally permitted. Northwest requests that its renewed exemption be effective for a two-year period.
Northwest historically has operated Detroit-Punta Cana scheduled combination service on a seasonal basis using A320 aircraft.
Northwest does not intend to operate Detroit-Punta Cana seasonal service this winter, but seeks renewal of this exemption to enable Northwest to operate the route in the future.

Northwest requests renewal of these exemptions for a period of at least two years.
