The agreement amends fares and conditions of travel between the subareas of Area 3 and U.S. points within Area 3. Fares from Malaysia and Thailand to U.S. points are increased four and seven percent, respectively, to offset currency depreciation. Economy fares from Hong Kong to Guam and Pago Pago, restricted economy fares from Japan to Guam and Saipan, and normal fares (first, business, and economy class fares) from Kuala Lumpur to Guam are amended to reflect government-approved levels. Within the South West Pacific sub-area, excursion fare rules and conditions are amended, with no substantive changes, to achieve consistency and standardization with other areas. We will approve the agreement.
