USAir, Inc. (Registration of Name Change and Reissuance of Certificates of Public Convenience)
Order 97-7-2 | OST-96-1945 | Issued June 18, 1997 | Served July 8, 1997
By this order, we reissue USAir's international route certificates in the name of US Airways, Inc. d/b/a US Airways and d/b/a USAir. The following international route certificates, however, will not be reissued because the certificates expired by their own terms: Route 619 (certain U.S.-Canada points), Route 654 (certain U.S.-Mexico points), and Route 524 (certain U.S.-U.K. points). Further, we will not reissue USAir's certificates for Route 291 (Cleveland-Toronto/Montreal), Route 540 (New York/Newark-Ottawa), Route 575 (Philadelphia Montreal/Toronto), and Route 694 (Pittsburgh-Toronto), as that authority is now encompassed in the carrier's certificate for Route 666 authorizing broad U.S.-Canada authority. Similarly, we will delete segments 1 through 4 of USAir's certificate for Route 97-F authorizing certain other U.S.-Canada services, as these services are also encompassed by Route 666. We will, however, reissue USAir's certificate for Route 701 (Washington, DC-Toronto). This U.S.-Toronto certificate was awarded in a comparative selection proceeding consistent with the phase-in provisions of the 1995 U.S.-Canada aviation agreement for Toronto services, and is, therefore, subject to certain reporting requirements and dormancy conditions.
