Worth-Mexico City and Atlanta-Cancun flights. Passengers transported between Mexico City and Los Angeles or Dallas/Ft. Worth, between Cancun and Atlanta and between Guadalajara and Los Angeles will connect to KAL's nonstop flights between the respective U.S. points and Seoul. Aeromexico will display KAL's code on a blind sector basis only for traffic moving between the noted points in Mexico and Seoul. Korean Air will not sell service under its designator code to local U.S.-Mexico traffic.

KAL requests authorization to display, on a blind sector basis, Aeromexico's designator code on KAL's Seoul-Los Angeles, Seoul-Dallas/Ft. Worth and SeoulAtlanta services. Response to Request for Additional Information

At the request of the Department's staff, Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. is hereby filing additional information to supplement its June 2, 1998 Application to Amend its Foreign Air Carrier Permit in Docket OST-98-3900. That application seeks an amended foreign air carrier permit, authorizing Korean Air to engage in scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail on the following routing: Between any point or points behind the Republic of Korea and any point or points in the Republic of Korea, via any intermediate point or points, and any point or points in the United States, and beyond the United States to any point or points, with full traffic rights.

Korean Air also requests that the amended permit authorize it to engage in charter foreign air transportation pursuant to, and with all other rights available to Korean Air under, the 1998 Air Transport Services Agreement between the United States and the Republic of Korea. The application - which is unopposed - is currently pending before the Department. The purpose of this filing is to update the materials that were submitted with the original application.

OST-03-15780 - US-Switzerland Blocked Space/Code Share

Application for a Statement of Authorization

Pursuant to 14 C.F.R. § 212.9(b), Korean Air Lines Co. Ltd. ("KAL") hereby applies for a statement of authorization to (i) block space on its aircraft for Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. ("Swiss") on the New York (JFK) - Basel, Switzerland segment of KAL's freighter service that will operate weekly over a Seoul - New York - Basel - Seoul routing and (ii) place the "LX" designator code on the New York - Basel segment of these flights. As the parties intend to commence this arrangement on August 14, 2003, KAL also requests a waiver of the 45-day notice requirement set forth in 14 C.F.R. § 212.10(d)(2).

KAL and Swiss have reached agreement on a blocked space/codeshare arrangement pursuant to which Swiss will block space and hold out "LX" service on certain KAL all-cargo flights between the United States and Switzerland. The blocked space/codeshare services will be operated between New York (JFK) and Basel with Swiss blocking a contractually determined portion of the capacity of each flight.

Continental and Korean request statements of authorization to implement their proposed codeshare service. Specifically, Continental and Continental Micronesia seek statements of authorization permitting them to display the Korean KE* code in conjunction with foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail on Continental and Continental Micronesia flights between (1) points in the United States, (2) points in the United States and points in Korea (either nonstop or via intermediate points in third countries), (3) points in the United States and points in third countries; and (4) points in Korea and points in third countries.  Korean seeks a statement of authorization permitting it to display the Continental CO* code in conjunction with foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail on Korean flights between (1) points in Korea, (2) points in Korea and points in the United States (either nonstop or via intermediate points in third countries), (3) points in Korea and points in third countries, and (4) points in the United States and points in third countries. The Korean KE* code will also be displayed on flights operated by ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. and, potentially, other Continental codeshare partners operating aircraft with fewer than 60 seats.

Joint application of Alaska Airliues, Inc. and Horizou Air Iudustries, Inc. for statements of authorization to display the "KE" designator code of Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. on flights operated by Alaska and Horizon between Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, on the one hand, and the U.S. domestic points listed in Appendix A, on the other haud. The Joint Applicants also reqnest waiver of the 45-day advance filing reqnirement under 14 CFR Part 212.

The Department is acting on the Joint Applicant's request prior to the expiration of the 45-day advance filing requirement with the consent of all parties served.
