Application for an Exemption

Application of Air Norterra Inc. d/b/a Canadian North pursuant to 49 USC Section 40109, requesting authority to operate on demand passenger and cargo charters using Boeing 737 aircraft to various United States locations including Las Vegas (Nevada), Reno (Nevada), Deadhorse (Alaska), Fairbanks (Alaska) and Anchorage (Alaska). Proposed Canadian points of departure would include Calgary (Alberta), Edmonton (Alberta) and Yellowknife (Northwest Territories).

Canadian North is a privately owned commercial air carrier operating five Boeing 737 and two Fokker F28 type aircraft. It has been in operation under the name Canadian North since 1993 and was purchased by the NorTerra group of companies in 1998. Air Norterra Inc. has operated Canadian North since July 05, 2001.

Air NorTerra Inc. using the trade name Canadian North operates under Department of Transport Air Operator Certificate (AOC) No. 10008, issued on the 5th of July 2001. The company is headquarted in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories with a main base in Calgary, Alberta and a sub-base in Edmonton, Alberta. Types of service authorized include domestic and non-scheduled international. Scheduled points include Fort Smith, Hay River, Yellowknife, Norman Wells, Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Rankin Inlet, Iqaluit and Ottawa.
