Northwest Airlines, Inc. and ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. d/b/a Continental Express July 10, 2003 Re: US-Mexico Codeshare Notice with ExpressJet Hereby respectfully requests the Department to notify Mexican aviation authorities as soon as possible that Northwest intends to provide Houston-Morelia code-share service with ExpressJet Airlines, Inc, d/b/a Continental Express. ExpressJet began providing daily Houston-Morelia flights on June 12, 2003, using 50-seat Embraer regional jet aircraft. Designating Northwest to code-share with ExpressJet will not deprive any other carrier the ability to provide Houston-Morelia code-share service since additional code-share opportunities will remain available. The proposed Northwest service will expand network competition among U.S. carriers serving Mexico and provide travelers and shippers with new service options between Morelia and points in the U.S. served by Northwest. ExpressJet plans to initiate Houston-Oaxaca and Houston-Toluca service effective June 10, 2004. ExpressJet currently serves Houston-Villahermosa. All three of these routes will be operated using Embraer regional jet aircraft. Designating Northwest to code‑share with ExpressJet will not deprive any other carrier of the ability to provide service in the referenced markets since additional code‑share opportunities will remain available.
