Application for Statement of Authorization

Requests a Statement of Authorization for a one-year period to allow Southern to wet lease one B-747 freighter aircraft to C.A.L. Cargo Air Lines Ltd. on a long-term basis for C.A.L.'s scheduled or charter flights between the U.S. and Israel, directly or via intermediate points, on routes authorized by the Department. Pursuant to Section 212.12(d)(4) of the Department's regulations, Southern also requests a waiver of the 45-day notice requirement to the extent necessary to begin the proposed wet-lease service on May 10, 2003. Southern will poll the airlines served with this application today and notify the Department of their positions as soon as possible.
