Applies for renewal of its Statement of Authorization to permit Northwest Airlines, Inc. ("Northwest") to place its "NW" designator code on KLM flights between Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, pursuant to a code-sharing agreement between KLM and Northwest. KLM currently operates twice-weekly Amsterdam-Almaty combination service and Northwest code-shares on those flights.

Statement of Authorization, Los Angeles-Zurich (Sobelair)
Beginning July 4, l997, Swissair intends to utilize a B767-300ER aircraft (in a 275-passenger all-economy configuration) wet-leased from Sobelair on a weekly Zurich-Los Angeles route v.v., for the peak-season carriage of Zurich originating charter traffic, except that almost ten percent of the aircraft's capacity (25 seats per week) would be offered in the Los Angeles-Zurich scheduled-service market. Swissair will utilize the trade name Balair/CTA in connection with the weekly charter and scheduled service on the Sobelair aircraft. (With regard to Swissair's planned Los Angeles-Zurich scheduled service on the Sobelair aircraft, Swissair has filed concurrently with this Joint Application an application for a Statement of Authorization to conduct part-charter operations in the Los Angeles-Zurich market for the July 4, l997-October 18, 1997 period.)

During the relevant period, the Swissair service will operate once a week, departing from Zurich at 0610 furs. local time each Friday and arriving in Los Angeles at 1810 furs. local time, and departing from Los Angeles at 2015 furs. local time and arriving in Zurich at 0710 furs. +1, local time. Swissair will utilize the trade name Balair/CTA for the service (this trade name was registered with your office by Swissair on November 30, 1995 and acknowledged by your office by letter of December 21, 1995). The flight designation will be SLR1857, westbound, and SLR1858, eastbound.
