Under this arrangement, Air India would hold out through service between India and Los Angeles. Air-India would not be marketing Fifth Freedom service between the United States and Singapore. This arrangement would be effective as of mid-March.

Re: Notice of Brazilian Carrier Schedule Change

Pursuant to paragraph (1) of Section III of Annex I of the Aviation Transport Services Agreement between the United States of America and the Federative Republic of Brazil (the "Bilateral") as amended by the November 18, 1997 Memorandum of Consultations between Parties to the Bilateral, and in accordance with the terms of Mr. Gretch's letter of January 8, 1998 setting forth the terms of Department's requirements with respect to that provision of the Bilateral, VARIG, S.A. (Viaçao Aérea RioGrandense) hereby provides notice of a schedule change for its combination service for all U.S. gateways effective April 4-5, 1998.
