Re: Joint Application for Renewal of Statement of Authorization
Mexicana is authorized by the Department to provide scheduled combination service between Newark and Cancun and currently operates ten flights weekly in the Newark-Cancun market. Aeroperu is authorized by the Department to serve the New York-Lima market but does not currently operate its own aircraft between the two cities.
Mexicana currently serves Lima and Buenos Aires in conjunction with its NewarkCancun flights. One of Mexicana's ten weekly flights between Newark and Cancun operates beyond Cancun to Lima and Buenos Aires. In addition to marketing service in its own name between Newark and Cancun, Mexicana also offers service between Newark and Lima and between Newark and Bucnos Aires, in both cases with a change of flight number in Cancun.
Under the codeshare agreement between Mexican and Aeroperu, certain segments of Mexicana's Newark-Cancun-Lima-Buenos Aires flight also carry Aeroperu's code. Aeroperu offers service under a single flight number in the Newark-Lima market. Service between Newark and Buenos Aires is offered in Aeroperu's name with a change in flight number in Lima. Aeroperu does not hold out or market fifth freedom service between Newark and Cancun. Nor are any flight segments operated with Aeroperu's aircraft and crews.
