Essential Air Service at Angoon and Tenakee, Alaska OST-2006-25542 - Termination of Service August 1, 2006 90-Day Notice of Alaska Juneau Aeronautics d/b/a Wings of Alaska to Terminate Service | Word Alaska Juneau Aeronautics, Inc. d/b/a Wings of Alaska hereby serves its notice of intent to terminate all scheduled air service it is providing at the points Angoon and Tenakee, Alaska. Both Angoon and Tenakee receive scheduled passenger and cargo service from Alaska Seaplane Service, LLC, which provides the full Essential Air Service requirement. Alaska Seaplane Service, LLC is a certificated air carrier. No point will be left without nonstop or single-plane service from a certificated carrier by Wings’ termination. The date of the intended termination is on or before October 29, 2006. The Department has determined the level of Essential Air Service for Angoon (5 flights per week) and Tenakee (3 flights per week). Termination of Wings’ service will not reduce air transportation to both points below the Essential level as Alaska Seaplane Service already provides this level of service. Objections to termination of Wings scheduled air service at Angoon and Tenakee shall be filed on or before August 21, 2006. September 11, 2006 Request for Waiver of the 90-Day Hold In Period of Alaska Juneau Aeronautics d/b/a Wings of Alaska Traffic and service at Angoon and Tenakee are quite seasonal. Now that the summer traffic peak has passed, Wings of Alaska proposes to remove the aircraft used in scheduled float service from its insurance coverage for the winter. At the same time, allowing Alaska Seaplane Service to take over all service will increase traffic on its existing service as well. Wings of Alaska hreby requests a waiver of the 90-Day hold in period to allow it to suspend service effective Saturday, September 22, 2006. Counsel: MTC, Hank Myers, 425-641-8243
