By NOAT on December 29, 2000, the Department granted Air Canada Regional an exemption from 49 USC section 41301 to conduct scheduled, combination services between Canada and the United States (and to conduct certain U.S. charter operations) and a Statement of Authorization under 14 CFR Part 212 to the extent necessary to permit the applicant to display the designator code of Air Canada on its proposed scheduled services to/from the United States. The code-share conditions associated with the grant of this authority included the requirement that the carrier(s) must notify the Department before it/they begin or cease any code-share service under this code-share authorization. Air Canada Regional requests that the subject code-share authority in this Docket be amended to eliminate this notice requirement.

Northwest Airlines, Inc. hereby respectfully opposes comments filed by various parties which have responded to the Department's proposed extension of the CRS rules advocating either immediate suspension of the rule authorizing release of CRS booking and marketing data or early application of the CRS rules to Internet travel sites. For the reasons shown below, the Department should retain the pro-consumer, pro-competitive rule on booking and marketing data and refrain from regulating Internet travel sites until the Department completes its comprehensive review of the CRS rules. If the Department renews the CRS rules after completion of its comprehensive review, the non-discriminatory release of CRS data should continue to be authorized and Internet travel sites should be subject to minimal, if any, uniform regulation.
